In the wake of The Great Flood of 1955 which devastated the shores of Frenchtown, NJ and neighboring areas, Howard J. Opdyke and Caroline M. Opdyke, made the decision to purchase a lumber company located in the center of Frenchtown.
After completing his business degree in 1975, Howard and Caroline's son, Howard J. Opdyke II, whom they lovingly called Jack, returned to the family business to assist and grow the company.
Today, H.J. Opdyke Lumber Company has four locations to serve its customers. Third generation family member, John Opdyke assists his father with the family business and plans to continue their shared vision.
